Welcome to the front page of my website, which also will function as my blog–Impact & Politics. This blog is an attempt to provide myself with a space that I can freely and regularly write.
This space will function as an opportunity to write without reproach. I find myself restricted from my writing, especially about topics that have to do with my research. While I have always had some interest in politics, this limits my opportunities to write about current political events in any sort of setting. While I don’t foresee this space to be completely devoted to politics, I hope to discuss my research interests in political science within these posts.
Impact & Politics
Which brings me to the title of this blog: Impact & Politics. In an attempt to develop a friendly and witty moniker, I juggled some names around. I came to Impact & Politics. The meaning is two-fold. The first is simpler: most of the topics covered in this blog will investigate the impact of politics on the cultural, social, historical, etc., The second is that the title “Impact” is an acronym. Impact stands for International Relations, Methodology, Public Policy, American Politics, Comparative Politics, and Theory. I intend to talk about how political science as a discipline can be incorporated into discussions about contemporary political events.
I hope to write about how political science is relevant to everyday life. The connection is sometimes disparate. But rather than take this as a disadvantage, I take this as an opportunity to write about all sorts of topics. As such, I’ll discuss political science and academic-related topics here, but I will also discuss news, contemporary policy debates, pop culture, and occasional stories from my personal life.
It is my hope that you’ll enjoy reading my occasional thoughts and take time to visit again.
